On 5/27, woke up to some serious pain in left one with a lot of redness and swelling. Wasn't over night, just shit hit the fan that morning after years of building up.
After mamo, ultrasound, and biopsy, on 6/2 found out I have grade 3 aggressive cancer in left one and the right has been acting up like the left did awhile back. Even though mamo is clear on that, doesn't mean nothing's up since mamo's aren't always catching things brewing.
6/2- got news. Decided fam would die from stress about this since most aren't near so no one but bro knows and a couple bffs- bro only cuz he's executor of my estate and had to finally send him copy of the will I created last year.
Still kinda shocked. No fam history but I guess it starts with 1. Surgeon's appt is Thurs and just got an appt for the radiation onc for Fri. Let the games begin! :bls:cancer!

When my Mom went through chemo for gallbladder cancer, we were told that it was very aggressive but that that was in some ways a good thing because it helps the chemo identify and fight it. 6 months later she got the "no signs of cancer" bill of health and lived for 5+ years later when she died from something else.

1 in 9 right? So you aren't alone. My next door neighbor, two ladies at my work all had and beat it. All three were in there late 30's or early 40's. All three had mastectomies, two had chemo and radiation. All three are doing great. All three look great. Just say in'

Thank you JK and KSB. The odds are good but the process is wow. I've never had surgery in my life except tonsilectomy. So to go from 0 to hero is wow. The only thing that I have against me is it's not an early catch. Hadn't had a mamo done since 2009. I know, bad on me. But it is what it is. Will have a better idea on Thurs when I meet my surgeon for first time and he gives me options.
Here I am at biopsy, which is no fun at all, and the doc who's been doing this for 35 years full time is saying to the tech he's never seen anything like this. So it sounds like could be bilat masecs for me which if so, definitely would do reconstruction.
I'm kind of using this thread to as a blog as I'm going to post link to a couple other boards where there are more women than at the geek club. If I can help anyone who may be facing this after me, it's all good.

Good luck kid. Like I said elsewhere mom is 20 + year survivor. Double mastectomy and tons of chemo but 100 percent cancer free.
Fuck cancer. Kicks its nasty ass !!

They say the hardest part is hearing the news. I beg to differ. The hardest part is the waiting. I've known for a week now. And I'm waiting to see the surgeon on Thurs. Now I understand schedules. I've worked for a very popular and busy knee and hip replacement ortho for 10 years as his surgery scheduler. Patients would constantly call me in pain wanting to be put on cancellation list, some even offering me a bribe, which of course I would never take. Never thought I'd be on the other side so I'm not bugging my surgeon's office or any other office. I think I may be their favorite pt because they all know this doc I've worked for and are relieved I'm not getting angry at them because of the wait, which in my shoes, feels like another month.
So as they say in the NBA, the shot clock is on, and I'm waiting for the buzzer to sound on Thursday..

I'm approaching 50. The thing with my case, and I apologize in advance for TMI here, but I am right at perimenopause. I'm still ovulating yet I miss pds sometimes. This makes it a bit more complex because of the stage I'm in my life with this in between thing hormone wise. I tried figuring out when I read this on the cancer site but it's way too complex. So not saying it'll be harder in terms of survival, just I have more factors than just the aggressive shit.
