Looks like it's gonna happen, at least for a day or two.
I don't know what pisses me off more:
How fucking retarded this all is;
or
that I won't get furloughed because apparently I'm "essential".
Sorry if this belongs on the politics board edjr. I figured it's going to be a matter of general concern with the economy and all, but if you wanna move it I understand.

Me too... which is nice as we'll at least get paid. Though after they appropriate money. So say this thing lasts 2 months.... dang... mortgage won't pay itself.

I'll get paid normally for at least a little bit. Perhaps it depends on the district or something. My wife also works for the federales though and will be furloughed. We've got savings and relatively low costs (no kids yet) so it won't be a big deal. May cancel the big Xmas trip we were planning though

This is a big fight that's been brewing for a long time. It's not going to get resolved quickly. Both sides are really dug in. Hopefully we get some closure when this is done, I'm tired of all the brinkmanship games every few months.

the more educated I am in what's going on the more I hate politicians.
I try and avoid all discussions like the plague. I know very little about it and I like it

Still interesting how it'll play out and what the endgame will look like. Will the cracks in the GOP rupture and if so when? Will Obama blink like he has been accusued of by people other than me in the past? Will there be a concession, if so what?
Prediction: This'll take until the day before debt limit ceiling is reached to get resolved. Obama wins mostly, the GOP gets some sort of modification to Obamacare than lowers the revenue and makes the books unbalanced.

The Dems are pretty united right now (for possibly the first time ever) while the GOP has to deal with the internal anger brewing between the big money on Wall Street faction and the Tea Party crowd.
Things are coming to a head soon. Some sort of resolution should get done before the 17th since that will be when the debt limit hits an the government runs out of money.
If things aren't solved by then, the nation will either default on obligations with a Pandora's box of bad predictions opening or else Obama will use the 14th amendment to override Congress and initiate a Constitutional crisis. Still some last minute dancing to go through. :popcorn:

Did anyone REALLY think some sort of a deal wouldn't happen at the 11th hour (well more like +29 minutes past)? :rollseyes: Always has to be drama! I'm sure other countries are laughing their asses off.
