#8 - PENSTRAW
QB: Rating - B-
I'm of two minds on Tony Romo. On the one hand, he will put up solid numbers with an occasional 350 yard, 3 TD game thrown in there. On the other hand, he'll put up lousy games of 225 yards, 1 TD and 3 bad Interceptions. I really have a hard time getting a good feel for him. I always thought he was underrated until last season, when he was my starting QB and I actually followed him closely. Now I think he's a solid second tier QB and is ranked right about where he should be. Josh Freeman had high expectations last year, but they didn't pan out. This is a make or break year for him, as it's his contract season. Either he's going to be great or terrible; I don't think he'll just be average again. At any rate, I would start Romo until you see which it is.
RB: Rating: A-
Jamaal Charles is riding the hype train and he could very well take you to your stop at playoff station. We all know the reasons for the hype, including new head coach Andy Reid and the way he loves to throw to RBs. Top 5 rb in a ppr format, and for good reason. As your other starter, David Wilson is riding some hype at the moment as well. He's never really shown enough to justify this, but all the pieces are in place for him to bust out. With no other threat to take carries from him (thank you Andre Brown and your creaky leg), and speed enough to break any play wide open, he has the potential for superstar numbers. He just needs to make sure that he blocks for Eli and doesn't fumble; Coughlin will shoot him in the head if he does any of those two things more than a couple of times. Good depth, with Ryan "I swear I'm healthy this time" Matthews and Michael "the vulture" Bush. If Matthews finally plays the way everyone has always expected, he could be the steal of the draft. That's a big IF however.
WR: D+
Larry Fitzgerald should be rejuvenated by having a QB that actually knows how to throw a football. Palmer isn't Joe Montana, but he's better than the dreck that Fitz has been playing with for years. After Fitzgerald, I'll be blunt: these receivers suck anus. Anquan Boldin is a good real life WR; in fantasy, he's a low end #3. Ty Hilton is locked in right now as the number 3 WR that plays primarily with a 2 WR set. Not sure how that works out for him, but Boldin and Hilton should not be starting for anyone. Brian Hartline rode one big game last season, but he has some limited value for you and could surprise.
TE: B+
Gronk would get you an automatic A+ if he was a sure thing to be 100%. With the question marks he's had, however, I can't go higher than this. Jermichael "granite hands" Finley is actually a very good backup, but Rodgers is going to stop throwing to him if he drops like he did last season.
OVERALL: 7.3 out of 10. Running backs win championships, but I think these two will be coming up just a bit short for you this year. There's simply not enough talent around them and it'll be a dark winter come playoff time.
