QB: Rating: B
This got moved down from an A- or B+ due to the simple fact that you have 1 QB on the roster. Don't get me wrong here: I love Kaepernick this year. I think he has tons of potential, a strong arm, very mobile and a solid supporting cast. However, he's a running QB or at least a pocket QB that runs a lot. They are prone to getting injured simply because they take more hits than a regular QB. To have a starter like that and no backup is to tempt the football gods.
RB: Rating: A
Marshawn Lynch and Matt Forte may be one of the better 1/2 punches in this league. Lynch will get all the work and is simply a beast. Forte has averaged 9.7 yards per carry this preseason; he has a burst that hasn't been seen recently and is a monster in the passing game. He will lose some goal line work, but he makes up for it. Ahmad Bradshaw has the chance to be a real steal in this draft. Vick Ballard sucks and will really not push him for much if he is healthy. That's the trick of course: him staying healthy. Le'Veon Bell is a good guy to take a flyer on for your bench; if/when he comes back, he'll bolster your RB stables; you have the guys to hold on to him until then.
WR: Rating: B+
Victor Cruz is Eli's favorite receiver, and he will put up big numbers. That heel thing shouldn't be a big issue and I would write him down for a sure 5-6 catches a game on average, maybe more. Danny Amendola is set up for big things IF he stays healthy. He's on the injury report today with a strained case of the Patriots, but he'll be good to go this week. He's had injury issues in the past, so keep an eye on him. James Jones starting doesn't give me good feelings, but he caught quite a few TDs last season and he will get lots of targets with Greg Jennings gone. Reuben Randle is someone to keep an eye on, especially if Nicks comes down with his annual injuries. Aaron Dobson is a good guy to take a flyer on.
TE: Rating: D
I liked Zach Sudfield more before Gronkowski practiced this week. With the way the Pats air it out, I think he'll still get some targets, just not enough to make him into a serviceable starters. I think Colby Fleener could have a good year. Of course, I said this last year and was way off, so what the hell do I know.
OVERALL: 8 out of 10. This team seems like a lock (barring injuries) for a playoff spot. While I would stop just short of calling it a contender (due to only 1 QB, Amendola being Mr. Glass and no TE), some nifty maneuvering could change that.
