6 is too many, it lets in crappy teams. 5 teams will work. 3 divison winnners get a bye, next best record and highest scoring team can duke it out in a play in game. or next 2 best records or 2 top scorers. in the old days of the nfl (1980s) this is how it was done. are we reallly gonna play 14 weeks to eliminate 6 teams? The problem isn't the 4-4 team that wins their division, but the lower-scoring team with a better record in the 2nd highest scorer's division. Scheduling is always luck of the draw, both in and out of one's division. I favor 4 teams in playoff: the three division winners + highest scorer (not necessarily best record) of the remainder. i agree, but this is a head to head league. if someone gets in with a worse record than someone else but scored more points than them, well, that doesnt do much for me.

But you could actually very well have a team get in with a worse record AND far less points.

Seems like a fair solution. hell no. i own that wild card! on a serious note, while it sucks to leave someone out of the playoffs who has a high point total, it is a H2H league and it would be worse to leave out someone with a better W-L record.

I like the way the leagues I have run do it.
3 divisions, 4 teams each. 6 teams make playoffs
division winners make it, then 2 wild cards and then the team with the most points regardless of record.

With your method you eliminate a HtH matchup or a division game -not a terrible sin- but I don't like it. 12 isn't a great # of teams like 14. It's why I prefer 14. In 14 with a 6 team playoff, the schedule writes - play everybody once and no divisions. Bam! 13-nice and clean and easy. No muss/no fuss. In a 12 team league, you have to make decisions and prioritize since you are going to have unbalanced schedules with built in advantages no matter what you do. There's going to be two or three extra games. It's nice to make those division games IMO. If you wanted a six team playoffs, there's lots of ways to do it. My first preference would be 14 games in 13 weeks using a doubleheader week -week 13 a doubleheader vs your two division rivals with no NFL team on bye would be cool- but that could only be accommodated at a nice pay site like MFL not one of these free ones except maybe with manual commish override. A second way this could actually work would be with four divisions of three teams (4+9=13). A third would be use the week 17 results. A fourth, as 12 Geeks does it, just eliminate divisions and assign 2 extra matchups at random. A fifth, as noted earlier what ed does, is eliminate either one of the six division games or one of the single matchup with a non-division team as was the default at ESPN before I changed it. There's lots of ways to do the playoffs with 12 teams. These are all methods that you could use for a six team playoffs. The reason I skip all of them (except the first which I actually would do if possible) is that I don't mind using the regular season to eliminate 2/3 rather than 1/2 the teams. If you have that mindset, the math flows easily- a 14 week regular season with 6 division +8 non-division games.

I should be kicked out of the league for not starting a defense this week

I don't know why the rest of you are complaining...Im likely to be the one getting screwed out of the playoffs with a better record and more points scored than that pissant GFIAFP division...fuck that division is living up to its name.

Sorry buddy, but you are getting fucked. Tough being in the same division as a good team, while another division doesn't even have a team at .500 :bs: Poker Pro got stuffed this week. Looks like he's still a lock for the playoffs though
